Yesterday, we were part of the Palm Beach Brides Idea Show. It was a huge show with terrific vendors and the feedback was amazing. There were about 5 or 6 cake vendors and we heard things like "OMG, your cakes are amazing", "Perfection", "These are the best cakes on the show"!  Our vanilla rum cake was a hit and I wish I could have filmed people's reactions after they tasted the cake; many people commented it was the best tasting cake too!  I was humbled by the great response and very happy that our hard work paid off.   We are looking forward to serving many of the brides that attended the show and also look forward to working with the venues and vendors that showed interest in our work, wohoo!   I want to thank my Assistants Evelyn and Sarah for their hard work, I could not have done it without you!  I love you!!!
Hello there blogreaders. I've been so sporadic with my blogpost lately that I'm not sure I get any new hits, but I'll keep posting lol even if it is just for me.

So today I made this card for the FS190 on SCS. I chose a card that had some stamped flowers on it but I didn't have a rose stamp that I wanted to use so I decided to try my hand at the handmade roses I found browsing the web.

And this is what I came up with. This is a close up of the roses. They are fairly easy to make and they don't take long at all. For more info on how to make these here's a link to Penny Duncan Designs. Thanks for stopping in today.

Happy Cardigan

Hello my friends,

Some time has passed and I wanted to tell you about a great website I discovered recently: Drops Design

They have fabulous patterns for free and you can order yarn and needles as well! I noticed this cardigan a while ago and with some happy PINK yarn a friend of mine sent me from the USA I got to work

When I say PINK... I mean PINK!! It's great material for a mini-cardi :)

Daddy Renz bought a few grey onesies and they will fit nicely with this new garment for Her Majesty

im off

Im so excited ........im of on a girly spa weekend with fantastic friends,
so no posting this weekend as ill be far too busy being pampered lol,
Its a fab place as well and the food is amazing,
im taking my camera so will show you a piccie or 2 when i get back,
have a lovely weekend folks xxx

a garden update for you x

My hubby has done some more work on the yard, some of you might remember other piccies ive popped on here and how bad the garden was before, well the lawn is getting more established now and he has put up a nice new picket fence to keep kids safe, there is still a section at the top of the garden that needs sorting but otherwise its looking good,

lighthouse cake

This cake is for the XRoad camp this weekend.
it is a bit wonky, bumpy and uneven....but I am hoping the kids like it.
It has a torch for the light and as you can see it works....unfortunately, my kids and DH have tried and tested it so often that it had sunk...I did put a piece of cardboard underneath, but as DH advised (AFTER the fact lol) that it might of paid to put a chock of wood under it.

I really enjoy making novelty cakes, here are just a few others I have made in the past. Nothing spectacular but they were a lot of fun to make.

oops sorry for the photo overload!!!

Kiss Mum??

A quick layout for the September challenge over at Artastic.
Where, using  this painting by Frido Kahlo for inspiration

you  create a layout using these criteria:

1.  A photo of you or family member with your pet/pets = 1pt
2. Shades of brown and orange on your layout = 2pts
3. A single tropical flower or plant = 3pts

I had a lot of fun playing along.
And I think I would of liked Frido Kahlo, she comes across as  being pretty self confident woman.... Would YOU paint yourself with a monobrow???

a christmas card for you an our dt call still open

Here is my first card using my new embossing folder, i thought it was detailed enough to leave it as it was so just used my metallic sakura's to highlight the wording and popped some gems on and...voila

2. Saturday challenge - anything goes

Also dont forget our dt call over at creative craft challenges it is open to all crafters and doesnt just have to be cards, can be atc/scrapbook/altered art etc etc.

The day my daughter Teagan, was born. Thirteen next week....Eek!!!

I am really enjoying the process of just "playing" with my scrapping lately.
Not 100% happy with this layout.... but I enjoyed the process. :-)
I was originally inspired by this layout  by Cathrine.

I will probably scrap this again...one day ;-)
Have you ever done that?
Gone back through your scrapbooks, thought "yech what was I thinking and its such a precious photo too!" and then scrap it again???

Just in case you didn't know, the CYBILS are an honor given out by Kidlitosphere bloggers- teachers, librarians, authors, booksellers, etc. Every October, people rush to the CYBILS website and nominate their favorite new books in a whole bunch of different categories, including picture books, nonfiction, poetry, middle grade fiction, fantasy, graphic novels, YA, etc. At the end of October, the nominations close, then a panel of judges review the books in each category (almost one hundred in many of the categories), and whittle the list down to five books, which are then passed to a second panel of judges, who select the winner in each category.

I'm thrilled to announce that I will once again be serving as a judge on the nonfiction picture book panel. I've helped with the nonfiction judging for the last two years (as a YA judge in 2008 and a nonfiction picture book in 2010) and it's so, so, so fun. Starting in late October, I'll be reading and reviewing tons of terrific new nonfiction picture books. And I'll be discussing those books with lots and lots of really knowledgeable, interesting, and fun people. I. can. not. wait!

Round Two

OK, so now your job is to hop over to the CYBILS website and nominate your favorite books.
Let the wild rumpus begin!

Topsy Turvy Birthday Cake

Designed this cake for Viola's 50th Birthday party! Her daughter wanted something special to match the party decor.  Vanilla rum cake and red velvet cake.

Vicky's Wedding Cake

Cute card thurs meets PTW and daring cardmakers

to make this card i used;

  • cuttlebug embossing folder
  • card candy
  • silver peel offs (dont use these much but somehow fit with this)

its simplistic but i didnt want to over do it as the butterfly is soooooo pretty.

Believe Me

that's what I am!

These are the THREE items I will be teaching at my next class at Scrapworkz in Port Lincoln. (all for the price of one!! Bargain hey??)
I think time management will be the key issue...lol

Paint and glimmermist splatters...with a lots of room for play!!!

Inking and embossing and learning to make a very easy layered flower.
***oops! forgot to credit Tiff Firth for the photos!! sorry Tiff!!**

and a card made from some left over bits and pieces.
Class is on Monday 27th September.
I think it will be heaps of fun! Lots of room to play with these and put your own stamp on them.

And a couple of photos to share..
The other day I happened to be driving around the countryside looking for things to take photos of with my new camera (still learning!!)  and happened to spy this hawk in a tree.
I pulled over and took a photo, then it flew away, took another photo. I was quite surprised later on when looking back at the photos that it had actually had a mouse....(yech)
Now  a photographer I am NOT!!!(So please don't be tooo critical lol) but I am quite pleased to have caught this on camera..even the out of focus shot of the bird flying turned out okay. lol.
Hope you don't mind me sharing my practice, out of focus, probably over exposed photos with you...be prepared...the way I take photos there might be a few more bad photos coming!! lol
